If you want your baby to have the top-notch oral health and smile they deserve, then our dentists, Drs. Bowden, Bowden, and Hernandez, are more than happy to help you. Fortunately, there are things you can do on a regular basis to give your baby healthy gums and teeth when they grow into place. Those things are:
-Clean the gums when they don’t have teeth yet. All you need to do is take a clean, wet washcloth and wipe the gums after each feeding. Doing so can wash the harmful bacteria away and help your child maintain a top-notch oral health.
-Clean the teeth when they start growing into place. Just use a child-sized, soft-bristled toothbrush and water to scrub your baby’s little chompers twice a day. Be gentle as you brush. As you clean their teeth, you can use child toothpaste that doesn’t contain fluoride and that is safe to swallow if you desire.
-Bring them in for their first checkup at an early age. It’s recommended to bring them in around their first birthday or six months after their first tooth erupted from the gums. This appointment can allow our team to examine your child’s smile and give you the oral hygiene tips you need.
